Our Story: A Chance Meeting and a Lifetime of Love

We first laid eyes on each other during an ordinary lunch that turned out to be anything but. I, Darin, was having lunch with a business associate, lost in conversation, when I glanced across the room and saw Johnnie sitting with a friend. Our eyes met, and her smile lit up the room, instantly capturing my attention.

Seeing her smile gave me the courage to do something a bit bold. I walked over and gave both a cookie and said, “I hope you like sweets and have a great day.” I didn’t ask Johnnie for her name or number, nor did I give mine.

As fate would have it, she gave me a napkin with a simple note “Thank you for sweetening my day” and included her first name and number. I called her within 30 minutes and from that chance meeting, we spoke every day, sharing our thoughts, dreams, and stories.

We’ve had wonderful trips together and created amazing memories. One of our most memorable vacations was our first getaway to the Viceroy in Cabo San Lucas. It was a magical place for us, so much so that we chose it as the perfect spot to celebrate our marriage.
